Battle Of Cut Knife Hill (1885)

Pitikwahanapiwiyin and his group left Battleford and set up a camp at Cut Knife hill on April 24th to have a council meeting.
In the early morning, they were ambushed by Canadian soldiers. The attackers fled after the group defended themselves. Pitikwahanapiwiyin's warriors wanted to chase the attackers, however he held them back, saying, "They have come here to fight us and we have defended ourselves, our women, and our children. Now left them go."
Pitikwahanapiwiyin was the peace chief, not the war chief.
