The Battle Of Duck Lake (1885)

March 26, 1885, a group of Metis raided stores in Duck Lake for food and supplies.
On the 27th, a police force of about 100 came to Duck Lake and fought the Metis, with casualties on both sides. The battle was over when the police withdrew.
On the 28th, word about the battle got around to the federal government. It sent soldiers to Saskatchewan immediately. The first group of soldiers got off the train on April 10 and marched towards Batoche. eventually over 5000 troops went to support the government's interests.
